How does it work?
The spamfilter is a cloud-based application that sits between the Internet and your mail server. It securely receives all email sent to your domain. Email is processed instantly and clean email relayed to your regular mail server for collection by your devices. You pick up mail from your server as you would any time. Your regular mail server now has less work to do since unwanted mail is stopped at the filter. Your email is kept on in our system for 30 days (mail archiving). You can access the spamfilter at any time and review the clean and quanrantined email as well as fine-tune any of the settings to adjust the system to your precise needs.
What's the process?
Order your annual subscription and provide your domain name during the order procedure. Your spamfilter will be configured and you will recieve your MX records, spamfilter access credentials and instructions. Within a few hours you will be getting lovely, filtered email. the process is entirely transparent and you will not loose any email in the transition. The only change is made to your DNS (we tell you what and how) there is nothing to change on your devices.
How Do I know It's Working?
For a start you will see a dramatic decrease in teh volume of email clogging up your inbox. But for specifics log in to your account and visit the quarantine area. you can easily view all the filtered and clean mail items. You can also finetune your filter operations there and then, whitelisting or blacklisting specific emails as you go.
How does the filter know what mail to accept?
When you first start the filter it accepts mail for all addresses in your domain and learns what addresses you have configured. After 30 days, it does not accept mail for any new addresses unless your specifically approve them. You can add approved addresses and remove unapproved addresses at any time. Mail for unapproved addresses is hard bounced.
How do I check for mail that may have been filtered out in error?
You can log in to your secure quarrantine area and check the last 30 days of inbound mail. It is easily identified as clean and filtered and you have powerful search facilities to find mail in your quarrantie area. Wrongly flagged mail can be resent and whitelisted for future clean processing.
How do I train the filter?
Simply forward anything you don't want to receive again to an address we will provide you and this will train the filter to eliminate mail with those characteristics in future.
What is my mail allowance?
Your standard allowance is 100,000 inbound emails a month. If you receive more email that that additonal 100,000 email blocks can be purchased as required at a modest price.
Can individal accounts in my domain control their own filters?
Yes. Naturally the administrator has master control over everything, but it is possible for individuals can manage specific email addresses and fine-tune their filter controls. The general settings are constantly fine-tuned automatically, but manual tweaking is certainly possible if required. This is an optional extra service.
What is email archiving?
All email received is kept in your filter account for 30 days. This archive of mail can be accessed at any time and any item can be resent or if quarantined, released from the filter. The past 30 days mail is retained and then progressively deleted as time passes.
What is mail bagging?
The spamfilter works by receiveing your mail, and relaying filtered mail on to the mail server you normally collect mail from. If for any reason your regular mail server is down (this happens from time to time, usually for short tempeorary periods), spamfilter will continue to recieve and hold your email for up to 5 days. This ensures that you do not lose email as a result of you mail server being offline for a short period. As well as coping with temporary nuplanned downtime, this service is priceless when relocating mailsevers or implementing system changes that would typcially result in lost mail and lost business.
What if my account is attacked and receives a massive mail spike?
We've got your back. Massive unplanned mail spikes are detected and reviewed as a matter of priority by our internal systems. You will not have to pay for any identified as fraudulent and malicious toward you.
